Gadsden Hotel in Douglas, Arizona – A Century of Elegance

Hotel Gadsden

In 1907, Hotel Gadsden was built in Douglas, Arizona.

Louis Comfort Tiffany

It is a warm combination of  carmel colored marble columns, Tiffany stained glass skylights and murals, shamelessly gilded in Art Nouveau motifs that celebrates the wealth of Bisbee copper and the Douglas smelter.

Influences include Mexican ceramic tiles and murals, antique furnishings, and old phone booths. The original switchboard is still found behind the front desk.

The Gadsden Hotel is an understated masterpiece that combines architecture, art and comfort with southwestern images of Cochise County. It is both nostalgic and historical.
