The Bisbee Police Department has the largest marijuana seizure in its history, when a traffic stop yielded 4793 bundles of marijuana in a rental truck. According to Chief Ben Reyna, this is the largest in the department’s history. The tunnel in Naco is the second major tunnel found in Naco since 1999.
Arizona Governor Doug Ducey plans to shift money from the schools to private prisons. The Governor’s plan would build and pay for a new, 3000 bed private prison complex that will cost the taxpayers tens of millions of dollars over the next decade.

A little over a year ago, Bisbee Mayor Adriana Badal shared her vision for Bisbee’s economic future. On July 13th 2013, Mayor Badal spoke at an open forum at the old Bisbee YWCA building. Mayor Badal said that planning for transportation and industry was hard, so she had a plan to bring about an economic renaissance with four days of films, a hiker-biker trail, and a developer flying overhead with a genuine filmmaker.
The effort to repeal the Bisbee Plastic Bag Ban was found to have technical errors, and will not be on the ballot. Susan Blackford and her petition gatherers had collected 675 signatures for the repeal to be on the November ballot.
